Kay Burley

Kay Burley was a founding presenter with Sky News when the channel launched in 1989 and is the longest-serving newsreader on British television.
Kay has covered some of the world's biggest news stories. They include the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Asian Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York and the Libyan conflict. More recently Kay fronted Sky News’ coverage of the Charlie Hebdo/Paris attacks, the MH370 airplane disappearance and both royal births. Ahead of the election Kay joined Jeremy Paxman to host ‘The Battle for Number 10’ where David Cameron and Ed Miliband were questioned during a live 90-minute programme co-produced by Sky News and Channel 4. Her exclusive interviews range from prime ministers and royalty to celebrities and sportsmen and women.
Kay began her career on the Evening Post and Chronicle in Wigan in 1978 before working in local radio and television in the north west and north east. She joined TV-am in 1985 as a reporter and breakfast TV presenter. Kay is a proud ambassador for Macmillan Cancer Support. Her novels “First Ladies” and "Betrayal" have been published by Harper Collins. Kay is on air as Sky News’ anchor daily from 3p.m. to 6.30p.m. from the channel's new studio in central London. . |
