The event will see Ms Minton Beddoes talk about a broad range of topics affecting businesses of today. FTI Consulting will also publish its Resilience Barometer 2020 at the end of the event which picks up on a number of the threats including; cybersecurity, regulation, financial crime and sustainability.

Zanny Minton Beddoes

Editor-in-Chief, The Economist

Zanny Minton Beddoes is the Editor-in-Chief of The Economist. Previously she was the business affairs editor, responsible for the newspaper’s coverage of business, finance and science.

Prior to this role, she was The Economist’s economics editor, overseeing the newspaper’s global economics coverage from her base in Washington DC. Before moving to Washington in April 1996, Ms. Minton Beddoes was The Economist’s emerging-markets correspondent based in London. She travelled extensively in Latin America and Eastern Europe, writing editorials and country analyses. She has written surveys of the World Economy, Latin American finance, global finance and Central Asia.

 

Ms. Minton Beddoes joined The Economist in 1994 after spending two years as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where she worked on macroeconomic adjustment programmes in Africa and the transition economies of Eastern Europe.

 

Before joining the IMF, she worked as an advisor to the Minister of Finance in Poland, as part of a small group headed by Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Harvard University.

 

She is a regular television and radio commentator on BBC, MSNBC, PBS, NPR, CNN and CNBC.

Ed Vaizey

Senior Advisor, FTI Consulting

Ed served as the Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy from 2010-16. In that role, Ed was responsible for the roll out of the successful rural broadband programme, the introduction of 4G, and tax credits for film, television, animation and video games, which have made the creative industries the fastest growing part of our economy. Ed was also Member of Parliament for Wantage from 2005 until October 2019. In the constituency, Ed campaigned for improvements to infrastructure including a new station at Grove and safety improvements to local roads; improved healthcare services in Oxfordshire and continued investment in science and technology.

Ed has been a member of FTI's Technology Media and Telecommunications Advisory Board since March 2019. He has joined FTI Consulting at one of the most important times for the rapidly evolving tech, media and telco industries, with new regulations widely predicted and in his role, Ed helps clients in those sectors to better navigate these changes.
